Nocturne in Blue and Silver--Battersea Reach

Falling into the UK

I am delighted to announce that on tomorrow, January 30th, Falling Rocket is to be released in the UK, more than a year after its release in the USA. Why the delay? To be honest, I’m not quite sure: miscommunication had something to do with it, I think, and conflicting preferences. But it’s out! and that’s the important thing. And I’m delighted as well to say that it’s already getting some good press. To celebrate the release, I’m actually planning to leave my hermitage in the Rockies for London, to make a couple of appearances. First, on February 6th, I will be addressing the Whistler Society, in Chelsea, on the book. Not only am I incredibly excited about speaking to those carrying the Whistler torch, and associated with the Chelsea Arts Club, which Whistler himself had a hand in founding: I’m excited as well simply to get back to the place that Whistler loved more than any other. After that appearance, and, to give equal time to Team Ruskin, I plan to sit down with the secretary of the Whistler Society to record an episode of the Ruskin Matters podcast. I will try to resist the strange temptation to hop into a bookstore to see a hard copy of my book on a bookshelf.  But I will almost certainly not resist the temptation simply to hop into a bookstore while I’m in the country. (I doubt I’ve ever made the trip without doing that.

The Whistler Society book talk is open to the public; you can find information about obtaining tickets at at tinyurl.com/yc42vdws
